RICHARD HERD REMEMBERS SCOTT BRADY

Richard Herd
THE CHINA SYNDROME, about a nuclear power plant on the verge of a meltdown, is a powerful film made in the late seventies that is, with the current 2011 news from Japan, as relevant as ever. Known for its A-list leads, some of the real power comes from the character-actors including RICHARD HERD, who reflects briefly about the great SCOTT BRADY.

RICHARD HERD: Scott Brady was a fine actor, a great pal and a man of real courage…

We'd prowl the studios together once or twice a week, stop in to visit with some of our friends and have lunch at Universal. Fox, MGM etc. We'd go to Notre Dame Football games when they came to play USC, and we'd travel to South Bend to catch them on their home turf whenever we could.

To this day I miss Scott… We did China Syndrome together and he sent up good thoughts and wishes for me when I was up for the role of Chuck Noll in Fighting Back: The Rocky Bleier Story. I got the part and spent 2 weeks with the Steelers back in the Pittsburgh area… He was a gutsy guy to the very end…

I'll never forget him.
